On the Prospects of Turkological research

On November 16, 2022, at 17:00 p.m., the International Scientific and Methodological Seminar on the topic: “Reflections on the Prospects for the Development of Turkic Diachronic Ethnolinguocultural Comparative Studies in Kazakhstan” was held.
The seminar was organized by the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, opened by Prof. Zh.K. Tuimebaev’s initiative, the Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU. This event opens a series of the scientific seminars organized by the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies which are aimed at developing the scientific potential of Kazakhstani science and arousing a cognitive interest among young Turkologists.
The well-known Turkologist, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Turkish Linguistic Society, Presidium Member of the International Association of Turkologists, Honored Scientist of the Chuvash Republic Nikolay Ivanovich Egorov was invited to deliver lectures and conduct seminars.
The lecture delivered by Prof. Egorov N.I. was devoted to modern Turkology problems, the research prospects in the field Altaic studies, the scientific cooperation between the turkologists of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation .
In addition, he mentioned about the current trends in Turkological science, among which he distinguished historical phonetics of the Turkic languages, Turkic diachronic comparative studies, and many others. According to Prof. Egorov N.I. these trends could be a priority for the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies.
Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies of Al-Farabi KazNU, Nursulu Zhamalbekovna Shaimerdenova moderated the meeting.
Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Turkology and Theory of Language Raushan Amirdinovna Avakova gave a warm welcome to the lecturer and expressed a hope for long-term cooperation.
The seminar participants, the lecturers and the students of Al-Farabi KazNU, asked the lecturer questions and actively participated in the discussion. The works on the etymology of the Chuvash language by Prof. Egorov N.I., as well as his studies on the linguistic interaction of the Turkic peoples ( Zh.K. Tuimebaev, N.I. Egorov, A.A. Chechenov. Current studies of the languages of Central Asia. Turan language union. Kokshetau: KSU Publishing house, 2009) caused a a huge interest among the audience.
The participants of the meeting expressed their wish to continue such seminars with the participation of the leading researchers in the field of Turkology and Altaic studies.
