«Thanksgiving Day 2022»

On December 3, 2022, students of the Oriental Studies Faculty and the Faculty of International Relations under the guidance of their professors of the departments of foreign languages A.K. Shayakhmet and of diplomatic translation M.K. Murzagaliyeva held the annual English “Thanksgiving Day 2022” within the university program ‘Brighten up around yourself!’.

First-year undergraduate students of the Oriental Studies Faculty and the Faculty of International Relations took an active part in the event, which was performed as a contest. Students acted out scenes, sang songs, conducted quizzes, danced, played the guitar and even the ukulele! The 'Encanto', 'Poppy', 'Pumpkin Pie', 'Mama Birds' teams showcased their diverse talents, and the competition for the title of the winner was fought at a serious level. The winner was the ‘Pumpkin pie’ team – the intermediate group of Kazakh subdivision majoring in Oriental Studies. All participants were fluent in English, besides expressed their gratitude in Western and Eastern languages. Also, students from Afghanistan and Turkmenistan took active part in the event.

On December 3, there was also another event devoted to the same topic within the framework of the university program “Brighten the corner where you are!” at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The event was organized by A.Zh. Otetileuova, the teacher of the Department of The First-year undergraduate students of the Oriental Studies Faculty participated in the event. The event, which began with performances, continued with songs, dances and creative videos. During the event, students and audience were united to conduct a quiz, and the winner was determined at the end of the competition. In addition, students showed a video on how to prepare a traditional English Thanksgiving dish. The participants of the event expressed gratitude not only in English, but also in Western and Eastern languages.
