PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK “ETHNOGRAPHY OF THE SYR-ARAL”
The presentation of the book "Ethnography of the Syr-Aral" written by Professor of the Historical Faculty of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, ethnographer Tattigul Kartayeva took place. The presentation was attended by well-known historians, poets and writers, museum staff and students.
Tattigul Kartayeva is a professor of the Department of Archeology, Ethnology and Museology of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University, Candidate of Historical Sciences, head of the Research Center "Museology and Monumentology". Her research area lies in the following areas: Historical ethnography, Monument studies, Ethnoarchaeology. The scientist has authored about three hundred scientific and educational works.
In the research work called "Ethnography of the Syr-Aral", the author spoke about the traditional ethnography of the Kazakhs of the lower reaches of the Syr Darya River, the eastern, northeastern coast of the Aral Sea in the XIX-XX century, described the traditional appearance of the Kazakh villages of the region.
In addition, the book comprehensively examines the tribal composition of the Kazakhs of the Syr-Aral region, migration flows that occurred in the past, traditional economy, migration to periodic settlements, customs and traditions, regional specifics of customs. Ethnographic monuments testify to the regional identity of the Syr-Aral Kazakhs on the basis of field research materials.
