KAZNU EXPANDS PARTNERSHIP WITH IRANIAN UNIVERSITIES
Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty Mohsen Fagani and Senior Expert of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Head of the working group Farabi Mujani Gumi. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in the field of science and education.
Welcoming the honored guests, the head of the University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, spoke about the activities and achievements of university and noted the growing partnership between KazNU and Iranian universities.
"Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has risen to the 150th place in the QS world ranking. Currently, KazNU has concluded nine agreements with Iranian foundations and universities, in particular with the University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti University, the cultural representation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazakhstan, the Institute of Humanitarian and Cultural Studies, University of Guilan, the Saadi Foundation, etc. In order to develop partnership with Iranian universities, we are ready to hold joint scientific conferences and publish historical and cultural books. Also this year, KazNU will host an international forum dedicated to Al-Farabi. I invite you to this forum," Zhanseit Tuimebayev stated. In conclusion, the rector invited the honored guests to give a lecture on leadership to the faculty and students.
In turn, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty, Mohsen Feghani, thanked the Rector of the University for the warm welcome and voiced a number of specific proposals.
"Kazakhstan is our friendly neighbor in the Caspian region and a close partner in the Islamic world. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, cooperation between the two states has been steadily growing. In the development of science and education of the two states, it is necessary to implement joint projects for the exchange of students, improving the experience of teaching staff. The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to allocate special educational grants to Kazakhstani students. The Ministry is considering a number of specific measures on grants," Mohsen Fagani announced.
Also during the meeting, a senior expert of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Mujani Gumi presented Zhanseit Tuimebayev a book that contains information about the history of Kazakhstan.
"The idea of Abu Nasr al-Farabi about the inhabitants of a virtuous city is common to the two states. Farabi's terminology is still not deeply studied. Together with the Al-Farabi Center, we intend to start this project and study the terminology of Farabi," Mujani Gumi claimed.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on the joint implementation of these initiatives and exchanged gifts.
