THE KAZNU OPENED AN AUDITORIUM NAMED AFTER JOURNALIST YERZHUMAN SMAIL
The Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has opened an auditorium named after the famous journalist, publicist, the first winner of the Presidential Prize in the field of mass media, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Yerzhuman Smail.
"Yerzhuman Uteshevich was born in 1948 in Talgar district of Almaty region. He started his journalistic activity as a correspondent of the newspaper "Egemen Kazakhstan". He was deputy editor of the newspaper "Leninshil zhas". Returning to "Egemen Kazakhstan", he was recognized as an honest, fair journalist, a strong editor. With honor, he held the positions of head of the department, deputy editor, first deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Egemen Kazakhstan". He achieved success in his work, became an academician of the Kazakhstan Academy of Journalism, winner of the Baubek Bulkyshev Prize, the first winner of the Presidential Prize in the field of mass media. Until the end of his life, he devotedly worked for the benefir of Kazakh journalism," Zhanseit Tuimebayev stated.
"I have worked with Yerzhuman Smail for many years. He devoted his whole life to the development of journalism and left a rich spiritual legacy to future generations. He brought up several generations of Kazakh journalists. I am very glad to open the auditorium in honor of a man whose contribution and merits we will never forget," said Nurlan Orazalin.
