During a working visit to Russia Chairman of the Board -Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Rector of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) Andrey Rudskoi.

It should be noted that in 2015 an agreement on cooperation in the field of science and education was signed between KazNU and SPbPU. Within the framework of the partnership, a joint project was implemented: open online course of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "Methods of molecular Biology", which was published on Coursera in 2021. The main authors and developers of the course were the employees of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU. The online course was developed by the Institute of New Educational Technologies together with the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology in collaboration with SPbPU.

Today KazNU implements 31 double degree educational programs jointly with Russian universities. As part of academic mobility, 53 students from the Russian Federation study at the university, about 40 Russian scientists have visited the university over the past three years.

During the meeting a constructive exchange of views took place on promising areas for strengthening cooperation between universities and an agreement on scientific and educational cooperation was signed between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and SPbPU.
