“Meeting of ministers of the Istanbul Process: results and prospects for the future”

April 26, 2013 Department of International Relations, Project Al-Farabi Carnegie on Central Asia at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, with the support of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, held a video conference on the topic “Meeting of ministers of the Istanbul Process: results and prospects for the future”.


In a video conference were participated the rector of Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi academician G.M. Mutanov, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States in the Republic of Kazakhstan Kenneth Fairfax, Director General of the Department of Economic Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Waheedullah Vassy, ​​Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Timur Urazaev, vice-president of the Carnegie Fond Paul Balaran, known Kazakhstani experts of analytical structures and institutions, lecturers, doctoral and masters of the Department of International Relations.

Videoconference participants expressed their evaluation results of the Third Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul process “Heart of Asia” and discussed the effectiveness of regional efforts to promote stability and security in Central and South Asia.

On the other side of the videoconference involved a group of American researchers led by Frederick Grar, a leading researcher and Director of the South Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

The videoconference was organized by the Co-Directors of the Al-Farabi Carnegie Project Martha Brill Olcott and F.T. Kukeyeva.
