"20 years of cooperation within the framework of the Partnership for Peace Programme: lessons and prospects for further development of cooperation"

Resource and Information Centre on NATO at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Center for International and the Euro-Atlantic Security and Cooperation Studies invite you to participate in the international scientific-practical conference "20 years of cooperation within the framework of the Partnership for Peace Programme: lessons and prospects for further development of cooperation", which will take place from 9th October to the 10th October 2014. The conference was supported by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division.


The conference will focus on the results of a 20-years of development of "Partnership for Peace" programme and a new vision for the program related to Central Asian countries will be analyzed.

Conference participants will discuss the following issues: the outcomes of the NATO summit in Wales in the context of regional security issues in Central Asia; the lessons of the PfP program with regard to the features of each Central Asian countries; existing and possible ways of cooperation between NATO and Central Asian countries in the field of regional security; the ways of further development of the Partnership for Peace (PfP) program; the mechanisms of regional cooperation in solving problems of the settlement of Afghan issue and other aspects of regional security in the geopolitical context of Central Asia.

The conference will be attended by NATO’s coordinators from Central Asia, representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the diplomatic corps, Central Asian and foreign experts.

Venue: Almaty, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Department of International Relations, Karasai batyr street 95, Hall of the Academic Council.
