New directions of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan discussed in the Treasury

To the Treasury of the name Al-Farabi held a scientific conference "Kazakh-Azerbaijani cooperation: past, present, future. The event is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the prominent statesman and outstanding personality of the modern world, Heydar Aliyev.

Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the National Majilis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and member of the working group on Azerbaijani-Kazakh Interparliamentary Relations, Ganira Pashayeva visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The delegation visited the KazNU Museum, the Situation Management Center, the library, and the Al-Farabi Museum. The honored guests viewed an exhibition with photos and book materials about the life and work of former President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and the classic of Azerbaijani literature, Mir Jalel Ali Pashayeva. The members of the delegation were also shown an exhibition of the scientific achievements of KazNU.

The conference was opened by the Chairman of the Board and Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev. Welcoming the guests, he noted the special merits of the former President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, whose 100th anniversary is widely celebrated not only in Azerbaijan but also in Kazakhstan. "Heydar Aliyev was a world-class figure," the head of the university stressed. Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are fraternal peoples. We have a similar history, religion, and culture. Since independence, the close ties between the two countries have been growing, and today they are developing in a new direction. "Today's event is a vivid expression of our solidarity."

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been cooperating with Baku State University for many years. Teachers and scientists visit Azerbaijani universities to participate in conferences and conduct research. Currently, 14 Azerbaijani citizens are studying at KazNU. KazNU and Baku University have agreements in the social, humanitarian, natural, and technical sciences. The Abai Kunanbayev Center of Kazakh Language, History, and Culture functions at Baku University. An Azerbaijani Historical and Cultural Center has been opened at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the Department of the Turkic Faculty of Oriental Studies, where history and ethnography, culture and literature, language, and spiritual heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples are studied. "Such scientific, cultural, and literary ties increase our cohesion and expand our spiritual space," the head of the university concluded his speech.

Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the National Majilis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ganira Pashayeva made a report on the topic "Relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan: past, present, and future." The two countries have strong historical, political, and cultural ties. Abai is not only a poet of the Kazakhs but of the entire Turkic world, whom Heydar Aliyev treated with special trepidation. In difficult times for Azerbaijanis, they were supported by the famous poet and public figure Olzhas Suleimenov, who stood up for the interests of the fraternal people. "Today, Azerbaijan is an independent state that is developing as dynamically as Kazakhstan," Ganira Aleskerovna stressed.

During the conference, Doctor of Philology Professor Nursultan Shaimerdenova presented to the participants a deep and informative report on the topic "Heydar Aliyev and the Turkic World.". Doctor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Ilyas Kalymbetov made a report on "Kazakh-Azerbaijani diplomatic relations."
