KazNU discussed new approaches to deradicalization of society

On behalf of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the operational headquarters established in Almaty and representatives of the Ministry dealing with issues of student accommodation in dormitories conducted a tour and inspection of the houses of students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Representatives of the operational headquarters and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education visited a specially created center for the placement of students in dormitories at KazNU and got acquainted with its activities. The center has 7 employees. Today, 2856 first-year students have addressed the headquarters on various issues. 985 students also received responses via Whatsapp. The headquarters established at the university works for young people studying 24/7.

"A lot of applicants choose Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Most of the first-year students coming to Almaty make their choice in favor of the country's leading university. Therefore, we must be ready for the 2023/24 academic year. We got acquainted with the state of dormitories at the university, the work of a specially created headquarters. The work on the admission of students to KazNU is in full swing," said Akerke Abylaykhan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Higher Postgraduate Education.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University provides housing for 76.2% of students who need dormitories in the current academic year.

Today, the educational institution has 14 dormitories for 5,938 places and a House of Young scientists. On the eve of the new academic year, 11,000 undergraduate students in need of housing will arrive from other cities, 5,638 of them, i.e. 51.2% will be provided with dormitories, 30% with hostels. And master's and doctoral students will be accommodated in the House of Young Scientists.

The university is negotiating with the hostel, the hotel and private tenants to solve the problem of lack of dormitories. Thus, it is expected to find housing for 1800 students.

In 14 dormitories of the KazNU town, current repairs have been carried out, which is coming to completion. During the renovation, all rooms and corridors of dormitories will be painted and whitewashed. The facade of the first floor and the entrance group will also be finished.

Linoleum has been replaced in dormitories No. 14 and No. 6. Sanitary and technical equipment has been updated in the house of students No. 6. In addition, work has been carried out in all dormitories to repair showers, electrical and heating networks.

Also, in the future, it is planned to stage-by-stage construction of a dormitory within the framework of the project of the 2nd stage of the KazNU in order to radically solve the problem of the shortage of dormitories.
