Al-Farabi university did meet my expectations!

It’s been many years now that al-Farabi university has been attracting citizens of other countries to study in Kazakhstan and training professionals in various fields. Foreign students admitted to our university mostly pursue studies in healthcare, economics and management, and humanities. Thus, this academic year students from Afghanistan were lucky to be enrolled in our university for the curriculum where all studies are held in English at the higher school of economics and business.

«Upon the completion of their first academic year in Kazakhstan we’ve decided to share some of their impressions about their first year abroad, studies at Al-Farabi university, and educational process in general.

Mohamad Qais Namanoos Khatibi, a first-year bachelor degree student in management specialty, being a chess champion in Afghanistan and having a chance to study somewhere in Europe, preferred Kazakhstan and he says he is happy to study in one of the best universities of the world, according to QS world rankings, and he never regretted about his decision to enter Al-Farabi University.

Atiq Faizi a first-year bachelor degree student in management specialty, agrees with him saying that to come to Kazakhstan and study at Al-Farabi University was a conscious choice for him as well and despite the fact that studying here might be very demanding and tedious sometimes, he is very satisfied with his educational experience here.

Shaiekh Shayeq, a first-year bachelor degree student in management specialty: “To my delight, Al-Farabi university did meet my expectations, giving me an opportunity to not only make friends, study abroad in an international academic environment, but also learn some Kazakh language and get to know Kazakh culture. After a brief Kazakh language course, I can communicate with basic greetings, describe time, favourite food, things I like to do in different places. I also learnt basic grammar. I also like Almaty, it’s an exciting and interesting city, with a lot of opportunities and cultural events. I love the fast way of life here.”

Zohra Amiri, a first-year bachelor degree student in management specialty: “Before coming here I talked with my compatriot students studying in Kazakhstan via Facebook and heard very positive feedback about Al-Farabi university, so I decided to study here. I am satisfied with the education provided at your university. Teachers here are very interactive, and always ready to help us. During my winter session at the university I had some difficulties with the evaluation system, which is due to the difference between the evaluation system in Afghanistan and here, but the academic staff were very supportive”.

Wahidullah Sepahizada, a first-year bachelor degree student majoring  in management specialty: “Between education in Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, I would like to point out that here students are given more homework, there are  assignments to work independently, and students research and learn the material themselves”.

Sharifi Najia, a first-year bachelor degree student in management specialty: “At the beginning of our studies it was hard sometimes to follow new schedule changes and homework information. All courses at the university are quite demanding, but not especially difficult. I spend most of my time studying because we need to prepare well to score high in the assessment. Overall, my experience of studying here is good so far. I really like Kazakhstan and the people here. I would also like to say that I love Kazakh cuisine, I can cook good food myself, and I’m  learning how to prepare local food from my friends”.

It’s remarkable to point out that all Afghani students are one in recommending the international community students  to come to study at Al-Farabi university where the academic excellence is coupled  with high quality education program.
