Sustainable Development Goal 4: Implementation of competitive project work by students of school-gymnasium № 5 of Almaty on the material and technical base of al-Farabi Kazakh National University within SDG 4

SDG 4 explores early childhood education and lifelong learning through providing free access to educational resources for people who do not attend university. The faculty of al-Farabi KazNU supports the education of school-age children by providing equal access to its facilities to provide the tools necessary to conduct research work.

Within the framework of this SDG, work was carried out with a student of grade 11 B of the Communal State Institution “School-Gymnasium № 5” Shaiki Khantemir under the joint guidance of associate professor of the Department of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry Akbaeva Dina Nauryzbaevna and school chemistry teacher Ongarbaeva Zhanar Siyazbekovna on the topic “Synthesis of biocatalyst on the basis of amphoteric cryogel for ethanol oxidation”. The work was carried out in laboratories 010 of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and the Private Institution “Institute of Polymer Materials and Technologies”.

During the research work, Shaiki Hantemir demonstrated good theoretical literacy, great desire and interest in the research topic and chemistry in general, and he possesses teamwork skills. He has mastered basic scientific research methods and has shown an aptitude for research work. A literature review has been collected and analyzed. The competitive work was done independently. Based on the results of the work, a diary and a presentation for oral presentation were prepared. Thus, the completed project work allowed integrating theoretical knowledge obtained at school with practical experience.

The completed work was submitted to the national competition of research projects in the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Daryn” of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is held with the support of the Center for identification and support of gifted children and talented youth “Almaty Daryny” Education Department of Almaty. The work, declared in the competition, is submitted to the III direction – “clean natural environment - the basis for the implementation of the Strategy Kazakhstan – 2030” in the section – chemistry.
