Students of the 2nd year of KazNU, studying on educational programme "Oriental Studies" under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Middle East and South Asia Department A.K. Akhmetbekova and senior lecturer J.R. Seytmetova on November 17, 2023 in the framework of the UN direction "Planet - rational use of terrestrial ecosystems and water resources, climate change", which is part of the Sustainable Development Goals, held an event entitled "Water is Life".
During the event, the students' presentation "Water is Life" revealed the consequences of water pollution and suggested solutions based on the experience of Western and South Korean countries. The students conducted video interviews and shared their views on water scarcity. They also organised a role play "International Press Conference with representatives from different countries on the topic of water scarcity". The students showed that they had a good command of Kazakh, Russian, English and Oriental languages. At the end of the event, students organised a quiz on water problem and presented a lot of interesting and useful information.
The head of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia D.M.Kokeeva and his deputy F.T.Zhumazhanova, who took part in the event "Water is Life", noted the creative thinking of students and emphasized that the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is the task of our youth, which is constantly monitored by both UN representatives and and by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
