Round table on the topic "Prevention of domestic violence"

As stated in the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Prevention of domestic violence", domestic violence is an intentional illegal act (action or omission) of one person in the field of family and household relations against another (others), causing or containing a threat of causing physical and (or) mental suffering. The prevention of domestic violence is achieved by a system of measures to provide social, psychological, legal and other assistance, social rehabilitation of family members, assistance in resolving conflict situations in the family, social control over the behavior of family members who have committed domestic violence, providing shelter to family members affected by violence. Anyone can be subjected to violence, but in the family, women and children most often suffer from violence. Domestic violence can be expressed in the form of physical, psychological, sexual and economic violence. Physical violence is the intentional infliction of harm to health through the use of physical force and infliction of physical pain. Psychological violence is the deliberate impact on the human psyche, humiliation of honor and dignity through threats, insults, blackmail or coercion (coercion) to commit offenses or acts that pose a danger to life or health, as well as leading to a violation of mental, physical and personal development. Sexual violence is a deliberate illegal act that encroaches on the sexual integrity or sexual freedom of a person, as well as acts of a sexual nature towards minors. Economic violence is the deliberate deprivation of housing, food, clothing, property, and funds to which a person has the right provided for by law. On December 8, 2023, a round table on the topic "Prevention of domestic violence" was held at the Faculty of Law within the framework of SDG 16 on the eve of the 90th anniversary of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics, which was attended by teachers, schoolchildren of Almaty, Shymkent and faculty and students universities of Almaty, Kyzylorda, student volunteer club "Shapagat", 2nd year doctoral students of the Almaty Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after M. Esbulatov, police lieutenant colonels Shamshieva I.S. and Prikhodko I.S. The report was made by the director of the KSU "Crisis Center for Victims of Domestic Violence" of the Department of Employment and Social Programs of Almaty, Baysakova Z.M. The purpose of the event is to prevent violence against family members, these can be both women and children, and men, as well as identifying aggressive personality types, providing assistance to both victims and subjects of offenses.
