For equal opportunities

11 december, 2023

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated around the world annually on 3 December in accordance with General Assembly resolution 47/3 of 14 October 1992. On December 3, special events are held all over the world that do not allow us to forget about the many problems of people with disabilities. The main purpose of this holiday is to remind that people with disabilities are on an equal basis with all members of society. As part of SDG 10, reducing inequality and ensuring that no one is left behind, on the eve of the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Shapagat club and the Eltutka club held a round table “For equal opportunities”, where they discussed the problems that faced by people with disabilities and ways to overcome these problems. Inclusion takes a social approach to disability. With this approach, a person with special needs is not labeled as a “problem”, but rather, society is imperfect and creates barriers for a person with disabilities. Inclusion is the process of real inclusion into the active life of society of people with difficulties in physical development, including those with disabilities.
