On January 3, 2024, I have read an interview with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev in the newspaper “Egemen Kazakhstan” and wanted to share my thoughts. The President of the country highlighted the important events of 2023 and paid special attention to the tasks for the new year.
Let me dwell on some issues that satisfy me. These new tasks will undoubtedly contribute to the accelerated development of the country's economy and improve the social situation of the population.
In particular, we will continue a constructive and balanced foreign policy. In 2024, Kazakhstan will chair the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Council for Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, the Organization of Turkic States, the International Island Rescue Fund and the Islamic Organization for Food Security. This means that the country's reputation has increased in the eyes of international organizations.
Also, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan gave his political assessment of the events of January 2022. The bandits' plan to stage a coup failed. In those troubled days, the head of state restored law and order in the country and saved our country.
After the January incident, the head of state spoke in detail about the political reforms being carried out in the country. Firstly, the Constitutional Court, the highest body ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and exercising constitutional control, has been restored. Secondly, the President is elected only once every 7 years; the independence, unity and territorial integrity of the state are clearly enshrined in our Constitution. Thirdly, Mazhilis deputies were elected from party lists and single-mandate constituencies.
President of the country Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev shared his thoughts on economic issues. He said that in order to develop the country's economy, it is necessary to solve a number of problems. Firstly, large-scale industrial projects must be implemented in the country. Secondly, it is necessary to solve the problem of attracting investment to our country. For this purpose, an Investment Headquarters has been created in the country. Thirdly, a new Tax Code is being developed, which will allow us to reconsider the relationship between the state and business. When improving the tax system, one should not be limited only to the method of collecting payments. On the one hand, it is necessary to create favorable conditions for investors, and on the other hand, it is necessary to pay special attention to ensuring that budget revenues do not decrease. In a word, it is necessary to maintain balance.
To sum up my thoughts, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said: “If we want our nation to grow and prosper, we must learn from the good and learn from the bad. Society should value hard work and creativity, and create knowledge and innovation. I would also like to end with the words: “A sober and serious attitude towards life should prevail.” We must support the tasks set by the President and contribute to their implementation.
