KazNU hosted the opening ceremony of the jubilee year
In the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took place the official, solemn opening of the celebration of the 90th anniversary o fAl-Farabi KazNU.
The opening ceremony of the jubilee year was attended by: Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of RK Darhan Ahmed-Zaki, Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Dosaev. Almaty Yerbolat Dosaev, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors, President of the Al-Farabi KazNU Alumni Association Kairat Mami, state and public figures, veterans of the university, KazNU graduates and teachers, young students, media representatives.
For guests and participants were presented exhibitions of rare photographs and books on the history of the university, portraits of veteran teachers, as well as an exposition of scientific papers and historical books for the 90th anniversary of the university. A documentary movie about the history and activities of Al-Farabi KazNU was shown.
Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek congratulated the staff of KazNU in a video message.
"Today is a significant holiday in the sphere of national science and higher education. The University has become a fundamental institution of higher education not only in Central Asia, but also in the world. The alma mater with a 90-year history has a clear goal - to train industry specialists capable of meeting the demands of the modern world. KazNU, named in honor of the second teacher of the world, with high results fulfills the set tasks in the field of science and education. I believe that the fruits of effective activity and fundamental milestones are the result of painstaking and hard work of the university staff. Let the continuation of the 90th anniversary be the 100th anniversary of KazNU", - said in his speech the Minister of Science and Higher Education of RK Sayasat Nurbek.
At the opening ceremony Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, welcoming guests and participants, congratulated the many thousands of staff with the 90th anniversary of the university.
Today KazNU takes 230th place in the international rating of QS and 29th place in the rating of universities QS Asia. In the university with 90-year history successfully work 3354 professors - teachers. Among them there are 11 academicians of NAS RK, three academicians of Higher School RK, eight academicians of Academy of Sciences of Higher School RK, seven corresponding members of NAS RK. There are also 603 doctors, 736 candidates of sciences, 512 PhDs. This year 32 teachers became winners of the republican competition "The best university teacher - 2023".
"The status of any university is measured by the labor of scientists-teachers, the quality of graduates. Among the graduates of KazNU there are enough state and public figures, prominent scientists, writers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, experienced diplomats. Scientific schools of famous figures, strong professors are formed in KazNU. The university maintains close relations with more than 650 universities and organizations of the world. Now we have more than 25 thousand students. Our students are trained in the leading universities of the USA, Europe, Asia. In 2022, within the framework of the official visit of the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, branches of KazNU were opened in the cities of Istanbul and Bishkek. Also on the basis of the university operates a branch of the Russian National Nuclear Research University MEPhI. In 2023, during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to China, it was agreed to open a branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University on the basis of KazNU. On October 12, the opening ceremony of the branch took place," - said the head of the university.
It should be noted that in 2022 KazNU was granted the status of a research university. Over the past three years, revenues from university science have doubled, and grant projects worth 8.5 billion tenge are currently being implemented. In 2023, scientists of KazNU won a megagrant worth 3.8 billion tenge from the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2024 to 2027 with the support of the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev II stage of KazNU construction will be realized. Three modern dormitories for 1060 places are under construction, in total for 3180 places, it is planned to build educational buildings, sports and recreation center, innovation center, research center, technology park.
By the 90th anniversary of the educational institution in KazNU it is planned to create the first in Central Asia model factory of Industry 4.0. The center to support new startups in the field of robotics and robotization will open in the second quarter of 2024. In addition, KazNU is implementing a joint project to create an IT-technopark on the Silicon Valley model, agreed with the Government of China. Funds for the supercomputer, performing 1800 operations per second (1800 Tfps), will be allocated at the expense of the Chinese government and installed in KazNU.
Today, in honor of the anniversary, the research and production center of electroplating coatings Chemical Coatings Innovations (ChemColn) was opened at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology.
Within the framework of the jubilee year it is planned to organize large-scale events with the participation of QS rating representatives, world experts-scientists. Historical and cognitive books will be published.
Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darhan Ahmet-Zaki also spoke at the opening ceremony. He congratulated the staff on the 90th anniversary and emphasized the historical significance of the event.
Within the framework of the event were awarded breastplates "For merits in the development of science" to Professor Madina Tulegenova, "For contribution to the development of native language" - to Professor Saule Zhusanbaeva. Then during the event was read out a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Education Gani Beisenbayev and on the stage was invited Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Farabi KazNU, President of the KazNU Alumni Association Kairat Mami, who presented four medals "Veteran of Labor" and five badges "Ybyrai Altynsarin" to teachers and professors of the university.
Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev awarded Professor Yerzhan Zhatkanbaev a large gold medal "Al-Farabi". The silver medal was awarded to professors: Grigory Mun, Zuhra Ismagambetova, Aigul Ramazan. Also the rector congratulated 15 teachers and presented them with the medal of KazNU "Yeren eңbegi ushin".
The solemn event ended with a festive concert.
