KazNU expands scientific partnership with Chinese universities
Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held talks in an extended format with the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC, Chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC Yerkin Tuniyaz, who arrived at the institution of higher education with a working visit.
The meeting was attended by Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Talgat Yeshenkulov, Director General of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Zhang Yuanming, President of Xinjiang University Yao Qiang, Head of the Secretariat of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Zhou Xuyun.
During the talks, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Talgat Yeshenkulov noted that the Ministry is working on the joint use of scientific laboratories with Chinese universities, the development of academic mobility programs and research work.
In turn, Zhanseit Tuimebeyev noted that the visit of the delegation led by Erkin Tuniyaz to the university will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations and bring them to a new level.
"More than 27 thousand students study at Al-Farabi KazNU. Of them, more than 4 thousand students came from abroad. Currently, the educational institution closely cooperates with 45 universities and scientific organizations of China. Today there are 975 Chinese students studying in KazNU. Being neighbors with China, we intend to develop cooperation with universities in Urumqi and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region," the rector said.
In turn, the chairman of the People's Government of XUAR of China Yerkin Tuniyaz thanked the leadership of KazNU for hospitality and voiced a number of proposals.
"The opening of a joint Kazakh-Chinese laboratory "Remote Sensing Technology and Applications" at the university indicates that KazNU is actively working with Chinese universities. Now China pays great attention to science. Therefore, I am sure that the universities of the two states will develop cooperation in a new direction. In order to strengthen the partnership, I propose to hold joint international scientific events and intensify the work on student exchange," - said the guest of honor.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed support for all initiatives aimed at developing bilateral partnership and agreed to systematically carry out the above-mentioned work.
After the talks, the rector of KazNU held a meeting with the rector of Xinjiang Medical University, deputy director of scientific work of Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Haji Akber.
During the conversation the parties discussed issues of activation of bilateral cooperation in the field of medicine.
