THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF GEOGRAPHERS OF THE TURKIC WORLD

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the X summit of the Organization of Turkic States (Astana, 2023) noted that we must present and support the new brand of the XXI century "TURKIC ERA", that is, "TURKTIME". He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of education and science through partnership. At the same time, the President invited the heads of the organization's member countries to open branches and language departments of the best universities in the world, hold joint scientific events and exchange experiences, as well as pay special attention to the development of artificial intelligence, digital and aerospace industries. He also proposed the study and promotion of the common cultural values of the Turkic-speaking peoples. In the declaration of the X summit of the Organization of Turkic States, it was decided to approve February 6 as the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Natural Disasters and Cooperation of the Organization of Turkic States.

To strengthen, popularize and support the unity of the Turkic-speaking countries, the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasavis, together with the Department of Geography, Land Management and Cadastre of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, JSC "Institute of Geography and Water Security" and the Republican School of Geography, planned to hold an international congress of geographers of the Turkic world at regular intervals once every two years. The first International Geographical Congress of the Turkic World will be held from April 18 to 20, 2024 in an offline format at the campus of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan.

The main purpose of the Congress is to promote the development of geographical research and strengthen cooperation among scientists from Turkic-speaking countries living in a vast region of the Eurasian continent.
