FUNDAMENTAL AND CLINICAL ASPECTS OF RARE DISEASES

On February 29th, annually, the World observes International Rare Disease Day. On February 29, 2024, the Department of Clinical Disciplines of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CONFERENCE "FUNDAMENTAL AND CLINICAL ASPECTS OF RARE DISEASES". First-year master's student of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare, Taskinbayeva Anjela, in the frame of sustainable development goal # 3 presented a report on the topic "Multiple System Atrophy. Current Issues in Diagnosis and Treatment". Key points: 🔶 Rare diseases can occur not only in childhood but also in adulthood and old age. 🔶 The Orphanet database lists over 6,000 rare diseases, while in Kazakhstan there are only 67 diseases. 🔶 It is necessary to increase awareness about rare diseases in Kazakhstan.
