A dialogue platform on the topic: "Prevention of terrorism and extremism in the Republic of Kazakhstan"

As part of achieving the Goals of Sustainable Development - security and a peaceful society, on April 22, 2024, a dialogue platform on the topic was held at the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University: "Prevention of terrorism and extremism in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

The event was attended by the teaching staff, students and undergraduates of the specialty of religious studies of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The moderator was Baitenova Nagima Zhaulybaevna, Doctor of Philosophy sciences, Professor. The meeting was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Professor candidate of Philosophy sciences Meirbayev Bekzhan Berikbayevich, who introduced the invited speaker - Kakimzhan Muratzhanovich Bishmanov, candidate of law sciences, Professor of the Kazakh National University named after al–Farabi, police colonel, member of the Public Council of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, graduate of the Police Academy in the United States under the Crisis Situations (antiterrorism) program, founder and President of the Center for the Study of Terrorism and Extremism in the Republic of Kazakhstan, awarded the Akhmet Baitursynov Gold medal, author more than 100 scientific papers with author's certificates for publication. The Dean also stressed the unique opportunity for KazNU students to meet with such important personalities for the university and the country as a whole, professionals in their field as Nagima Zhaulybaevna Baitenova and Kakimzhan Muratzhanovich Bishmanov. Then Professor K.M. Bishmanov spoke, who said that measures to prevent and combat terrorism and extremism are priorities in the field of public policy and are one of the urgent problems of the modern world. He explained the basic security measures, the basic concepts of terrorism and extremism, as well as measures to ensure personal security. Nagima Zhaulybayeva stressed the danger of false terrorism and its consequences, leading to a waste of specialist resources, while someone may really need help, as well as serious consequences for false information, that is, criminal liability. The students actively participated in the dialogue and were grateful for their time and new knowledge.
