A Kazakh-American joint center for Cytomatrix Research will be established at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology

Scientist, professor of the University of Houston, PhD Shaiken Tattim, who visited the Department of Biology and Biotechnology of al-Farabi KazNU with a working visit met with Vice-Rector for Operations Yerkin Duisenov. During the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum on the establishment of the center.

This agreement will enhance partnerships in the study of cytomatrix properties and characteristics. The establishment of the center will contribute to the development of cell biology and the development of innovative approaches to anti-cancer therapy in Kazakhstan.

At the meeting Vice-Rector Erkin Duisenov noted the importance of the concluded memorandum and emphasized that KazNU is always ready for joint work in the scientific direction.

In turn, the famous scientist Shaiken Tattim dwelled on the main tasks of the created center on the basis of Kazakhstani university. “This center will conduct cancer diagnostics and will allow to expand the possibilities of pharmacogenetic and molecular testing. As a result, we will have more opportunities to treat and prevent deadly cancer,” the professor said.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to work on opening of the center on a regular basis.
