KazNU and NWPU will launch a microsatellite into space

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Northwest Polytechnic University of the People's Republic of China signed an agreement on microsatellite scientific research.

This agreement was reached during negotiations between the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, who arrived on an official visit to Kazakhstan.

This initiative is being implemented for the first time among Kazakhstani universities at Al-Farabi KazNU.
Joint work, in turn, opens the way to space research, training of qualified specialists and development of common satellites. It also makes it possible to conduct remote sensing studies of the Earth using a microsatellite.
Northwestern Polytechnic University is a leader in space launches in the PRC.

The aim of the project is to develop equipment for gravimetric measurements, including a special ground station and a transmitter on board the satellite to detect density inhomogeneities in the Earth's crust and mantle. This payload is intended to solve fundamental problems in the study of geodynamic processes at great depths.

The microsatellite, realized jointly by the two universities, is planned to be launched into space within the framework of the SCO Year of Ecology and the 90th anniversary of KazNU.

It should be noted that the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi is the only university in our country that has experience in launching nanosatellites into Earth orbit. To date, the institution of higher education has launched nanosatellites "Al-Farabi-1" and "Al-Farabi-2".
