Discussed the readiness of dormitories for the academic year
In the library of Al-Farabi KazNU, Madiyar Duisenbayuly Kozhakhmet, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a meeting with the leadership of universities in Almaty, dedicated to the preparation of student dormitories for the new academic year.
Chief of Staff of the agency noted that currently the Institute of Ombudsmen together with the national student movement "Alliance of Students of Kazakhstan" and the Student Council under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducts monitoring of dormitories in higher education institutions of the country.
In the course of monitoring will be specially assessed criteria for allocation of places and living conditions in dormitories.
The meeting discussed the readiness of hostels to receive students in the new academic year, the construction of new hostels and improving the mechanism of public-private partnership (PPP) to address the shortage of places, contractual work with hostels.
After the meeting Madiyar Kozhakhmet got acquainted with the repair of student hostels on the campus of KazNU.
To date, the university has 15 dormitories, where 5,878 students live. In the dormitories at the expense of KazNU annually from 1 June to 15 August current repairs are carried out at the expense of KazNU.
Currently, all rooms and corridors are being painted, linoleum is being replaced on the floor, sanitary facilities and sanitary equipment are being installed. Electrical, thermal systems are renewed, new bedding is purchased. In the production shop of KazNU make quality furniture, which furnish the rooms.
The head of the department's staff noted that creation of favourable conditions for students, timely completion of repair works in dormitories, solving the shortage of places is a common task for all universities.
