Expanded partnership with Gimcheon University
During the visit of the President of Kimcheon University Yoon Ok-Hyun to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a memorandum of co-operation was signed, which defined the directions of mutually beneficial partnership between the two universities.
The guests of honour were welcomed by Yerkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU.
KazNU to date has established direct partnerships with 60 universities and organisations in South Korea, including Seoul National and universities: Gangnam, Foreign Languages Busan, Dongguk, Yongse, Kookmin, Namseul, Hanyang and others. The co-operation includes a wide range of areas: exchange of students and faculty, implementation of joint research projects, inviting professors, supervising PhD doctoral students.
The Vice-Rector also emphasised the activities of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Far East Department. In addition, the International Centre for Korean Studies and the Scientific Centre for Sustainable Development and Rational Environmental Management (SD&RM) are successfully functioning at the university. Yerkin Ermanovich invited the guests to get acquainted with the work of 10 laboratories, which are part of the Centre and carry out research in the fields of climate and modelling, digital cartography and applied geodesy, GlobalSky, sustainable tourism, water quality analysis and others. He also mentioned the Scientific and Practical Centre ‘Innovative Healthcare’, which successfully implements Erasmus+ projects at the Faculty of Medicine and Public Health.
At the end of the speech, Yerkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board - First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, expressed readiness for co-operation in all mutually beneficial areas.
In her response, President of Gimcheon University Yoon Ok-Hyeon spoke about the activities of the private university, which includes colleges of health, public safety and human care. ‘Conclusion of the memorandum with KazNU is an important step for us, which will help us to gain the status of a university of innovative type, corresponding to world-class educational institutions, where students are happy, easily find jobs after their studies and become leaders of the future’, - stressed Ms Yoon Ok-Hyun.
