Employees of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University completed advanced training courses at the Finnish Meteorological Institute
Employees of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University completed an advanced training courses at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI, Finland) from August 12 to 21 as part of the implementation of the BR21882122 program “Sustainable development of natural, economic and socio-economic systems of the West Kazakhstan region in the context of green growth: comprehensive analysis, concept, forecast estimates and scenarios”, as well as implementing the National Development Plan of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2029, paragraph 1. High quality of life, subparagraph 1.2 Education and science on the topics: air quality research, measurements and modeling, model validation, and climate change system modeling.
As part of the internship, special types of atmospheric monitoring were studied using the example of Station for Measuring Ecosystem-Atmosphere Relations III (SMEAR III). The team cquired practical skills in using modern tools for applying the SILAM model and also visited laboratories for processing pollutant data and an air quality monitoring station. Upon completion of a successful scientific internship, certificates were received.
