Leadership Lecture on "Innovations in Hydrology"
On September 2, 2024, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a leadership lecture on "Innovations in Hydrology" delivered by Igor Shenberger, a hydrologist and data manager for the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project. The event was held as part of the implementation of SDGs 6 and 13 and was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university.
The lecture, organized during the orientation week for first-year students, brought together undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students of the department. Igor Shenberger shared his knowledge of modern trends in hydrology, including remote sensing, automated monitoring systems, new methods for modeling hydrological processes, and advanced IT technologies. He also emphasized the importance of applying innovative approaches for effective water resource management.
Such events contribute to the development of professional skills among students and stimulate their interest in scientific research. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology will continue to invite leading experts to share their experience and knowledge, supporting the achievement of the SDGs and maintaining high standards of education and science at the university.
