At the Faculty of Oriental Studies, a leadership lecture was conducted as part of the "Quality Education" initiative for the 2024-2025 academic year, based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On September 4, 2024, Alibek Bolatovich Sopiev, a 2009 graduate of the Department of Chinese Studies, visited our faculty to meet with students and deliver a lecture titled "The Advantages of Learning Eastern Languages in the Modern World."

Currently, Alibek holds the position of Deputy Corporate Director at "Altyn Bank" JSC. During his lecture, he discussed the current geopolitical situation in the world and how global attention is increasingly focusing on Eastern countries. He also shared the challenges he faced while learning Chinese and the methods he used to master it, offering valuable advice to the students.

The students asked many questions, most of which centered on how knowing Chinese contributed to Alibek’s employment and career growth, as well as the job opportunities available for those proficient in Chinese. Alibek provided detailed and thorough answers to all the questions.

The faculty and department leadership announced plans to include Alibek in the Employers' Council in the future and to strengthen ties with "Altyn Bank" JSC to secure internship placements for students.

At the end of the event, the Vice Dean of the Faculty, Shynar Kanafieva, expressed her gratitude to Alibek Sopiev for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit his Alma Mater and deliver such an insightful lecture. As a token of appreciation, he was presented with commemorative gifts.
