The Department of Chinese Studies and the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan together held a literary and cultural event "Literature - ray of Friendship"

On September 17, 2024, teachers and students of the Department of Chinese Studies together with the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a literary and cultural event "Literature is a ray of Friendship". This event was organized on the eve of the traditional holiday of the Chinese people - the "Mid-Autumn Holiday". During the event, teachers and students of the Department of Chinese Studies closely communicated with the colleges from the  ‘Xinjiang Daily news’ newspaper, the ‘Neighbors’ magazine, the staff of Chance LLP, with specialists of the publishing house Oriental Literature, with whom they discussed topical issues of modern Kazakh and Chinese literature. The event was also attended by representatives of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, famous poets and writers of our Republic, as well as students studying Chinese in educational institutions of Almaty. Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, Mr. Liu Yi stressed the important place of culture, including literature, in bringing countries and peoples closer together. He also noted the importance of holding such cultural events and expressed readiness to provide all possible assistance in this matter. Well-known representatives of Kazakh literature who spoke at the event also noted that such events contribute to a closer acquaintance with modern Chinese society. Songs and kui were performed at the events, and students studying Chinese read excerpts from famous works of Chinese poetry. The Chinese traditional tea ceremony, paper carving, and calligraphy were also presented at this cultural event. The event also featured an exhibition of literary works translated into Kazakh and Russian by famous writers of the People's Republic of China. At the end of the event, traditions related to the Mid–Autumn Holiday were also presented, and guests were treated to yuebin - "Moon Cookies" - a traditional dish that is eaten during the Mid-Autumn Holiday.
