The Korea Foundation delegation visited the Far East Department
On September 23, 2024, the Korea Foundation delegation visited the Far East Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The delegation included the Dean of the Global Education Institute of the Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Republic of Korea), Dean of the Korean Department, Professor Lee MinWoo, as well as the Head of the Global Education Institute, Professor of the Korean Language Department Chin Chongnan. The meeting with the foreign guests was held by the Head of the Far East Department, PhD, Associate Professor A.B. Abagan, as well as the faculty of the department.
During the conversation, a number of issues were discussed regarding the conclusion of a memorandum of cooperation (MOU) between universities and a strategic partnership between the Korean language departments. The parties discussed the arrival of a visiting professor from South Korea, a native speaker, to work at the Far East Department. The arrival of a visiting professor from the Korea Foundation is a special opportunity for the department, as students can practice pronunciation, adopt a style of speech, and improve their oratory skills. The Korea Foundation provides a unique chance to develop Korean studies and take the teaching of the Korean language to a new level.
The agenda also included the issue of conducting online courses from the Global Education Institute of the Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies: a course of business language and preparation for the international test to determine the level of Korean (TOPIK) for undergraduate and graduate students. The possibility of exchanging teaching experience between teachers of the Department of the Far East and the Global Education Institute of the Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign studies was also discussed. In the future, joint writing of articles for journals with a non-zero impact factor is expected for graduate and doctoral students.
The guests got acquainted with the work of the faculty of the Department of the Far East, with the equipment of the classrooms and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation and further joint work.
