On October 3, 2024, a debate of first-year students of the Translation Studies specialty was held on the topic "Debate on the Construction of New Nuclear Power Plants: A Necessity for Kazakhstan or an Excessive Risk?". The event was organized at the Center for Intercultural Communications and Translation Activities of the Department of Diplomatic Translation at the Faculty of International Relations.
The debate was dedicated to the upcoming referendum on the construction of new nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan. Students actively discussed the pros and cons of this project, expressing different points of view. Some argued for the need to introduce nuclear energy as an important step for the country's economic and energy growth, while others expressed concern about possible environmental and safety risks.
The debate was organized by the teachers of the department Muratbek Nazia and Raushan Tastanova. The event became a significant contribution to preparing students for participation in public discussions and a referendum, developing their analytical and communication skills.
