STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CHINESE STUDIES VISITED THE BOTANICAL GARDEN WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE KAZNU’S SDG ‘CONSERVATION OF TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS’.
On 6 October 2024, within the framework of the KazNU’s SDG ‘Conservation of terrestrial ecosystems’, students of the Department of Chinese Studies visited the Botanical Garden of Almaty. Advisor of the 1 course Serikkanova A.Zh. with her students visited the greenhouse ‘Beauty of Nature’ of the Botanical Garden. This is a specially protected natural territory with the status of nature conservation and scientific organisation, designed for research and scientific development on the protection, conservation, reproduction and use of flora, including rare and endangered species of plants. The Botanical Garden of Almaty is rightly called ‘the lungs of Almaty’: it has a unique collection of thousands of flora of Kazakhstan, Europe, Crimea and Caucasus, North America and East Asia. During the visit to the Botanical Garden the students not only got acquainted with rare flora specimens, but also had a Chinese language lesson in a game form in the fresh air, in a relaxed atmosphere. This format of presenting academic information proved to be very informative and interesting. The students expressed their desire to practice this format often, which will help everyone to combine pleasant and useful.
