Rector inspected the progress of renovation works at the campus

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev inspected the repair work on the territory of the future Supercomputer Centre, which will be located at the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management.

First, the head of the university visited the Supercomputer Centre. Today the repair works in the centre are close to completion. The most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia will be installed here. This high-tech device will allow scientists from all over Kazakhstan to work with large volumes of data, to model various conditions of activity of state bodies and to develop IT-infrastructure of the country. The maximum performance of the supercomputer is 1.94 PFLOPS.

The total area of the centre is 227.36 sq. m. It is located on the ground floor of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management. The internal facade of the building was completely renovated and made in modern design. The engineering and communal infrastructure was completely replaced. 

The rector of the university was reported on the results of the work being carried out. Later Zhanseit Tuimebayev visited the Kazakh-Chinese joint laboratory ‘Technology and application of remote sensing’. The stone paving stone in front of the building is being replaced there. Due to its wear and tear and destruction there was a need for replacement.

The head of the educational institution instructed the responsible specialists to complete the repair work qualitatively and on time and set a number of tasks.
