"Protection of terrestrial ecosystems according to SDG 15"

15 october, 2024

On October 15, 2024, a literacy lecture titled "Pollution of Surface Waters" was held with 4th-year students of the "Geodesy and Cartography" specialty within the framework of the 6th direction of Sustainable Development Issues, "Clean Water and Sanitation."

The main purpose of the lecture was to analyze water scarcity and water pollution, which have become complex issues today. The pollution of water bodies is a complex, multi-factor, and highly dynamic process. The concentrations of various pollutants entering the water are characterized by a complex dynamic and depend on factors such as water flow rate, the rate of self-purification and sedimentation processes, and the volume of water masses. During the lecture, these factors were thoroughly described and analyzed. Additional questions were posed to students, and their opinions were openly discussed. Additionally, the information sources of surface water pollution and the methods of cartography, which vary on maps of different scales, were also reviewed.
