Round table on the topic "Conservation of marine ecosystems"

On October 24, 2024, as part of the achievement of the UN SDG Goal 14, a discussion of the 14 SDGs "Conservation of marine ecosystems" was held among students of the Historical Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the guidance of Ozenbek E. R., a teacher of the Department of History of Kazakhstan. The event was organized in a round table format. The event was dedicated to discussing the urgent need to protect marine ecosystems from destruction and pollution, the importance of biodiversity in the oceans and the impact of human activities on marine animals and plants. Issues such as concrete steps to preserve marine ecosystems, the organization of marine reserves, improving garbage collection in the oceans and the development of sustainable fishing methods were also discussed.
The students took an active part in the event and discussed important aspects of the marine ecosystem, the legal framework for marine protection, the public danger of marine pollution and expressed their views: "We believe that together we can ensure the future of our marine ecosystems, not forgetting that the oceans play an important role in the life of our planet and that the preservation of their biodiversity is a task requiring urgent action." The chairman is a teacher of the Department of History of Kazakhstan E. Ozenbek thanked the students for their suggestions on the conservation of the marine ecosystem.
