Causes and Consequences of Floods in Western Kazakhstan
An open advisory session on the topic "Causes and Consequences of Floods in Western Kazakhstan" was held with 2nd and 3rd-year students of the " Natural and Technogenic Risks " specialty. This event was organized in accordance with SDG Goal 15 (Life on Land) and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
Almat Nurbaqyuly Yerdesbay, a senior lecturer of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology who has conducted research in the region, was specially invited to the event. In his presentation, he emphasized that examining the main causes of floods, their consequences, and solutions is an important measure aimed at protecting ecosystems and combating climate change. He also shared details of the summer research conducted in the region and presented many video materials to the students.
The students received a lot of valuable information needed for future specialists in forecasting, preventing, and addressing the causes and consequences of various natural and man-made hazards in our country.
