Students of the «Tourism» program watched the play «My Little Poplar in the Red Kerchief»
On October 30, 2024, first-year students of the «Tourism» program from the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, led by Adilbay B.S., a lecturer from the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, visited the Gabit Musrepov State Academic Theater for Children and Youth. The event was organized as part of the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on Goal 5: «Gender Equality» and Goal 16: «Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.» The students watched a play based on the work of the legendary Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, My Little Poplar in the Red Kerchief, which was performed on the theater stage.
The work describes events that took place in the 1960s on the Dolan Pass, in the foothills of the Tien Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan. The play My Little Poplar in the Red Kerchief encourages grateful acceptance of one’s fate, avoiding the allure of fleeting pleasures. The famous phrase «there is no value in the gold at hand» reminds the audience of the importance of cherishing life and its moments.
The students enjoyed the theatrical art and had a wonderful time. Such cultural events undoubtedly foster creative thinking and broaden the horizons of future professionals.
