A guest lecture on "Youth participation in solving climate problems in cities" was held

On 31.10.2024, in order to implement the SDG-11 program "Ensuring openness, security, resilience and environmental sustainability of cities and settlements", Senior lecturer at the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law of the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Saginaev M.E. held a guest lecture at the Higher School of Economics "Adilet" of the Caspian Public University on the topic "Youth participation in solving urban climate problems." The lecture was held for first-year bachelor students of the Caspian Dream Team grant department. 
The lecture was held as part of the "World Cities Day", declared by the United Nations and celebrated annually on October 31. In 2024, the United Nations is holding this day under the motto "Youth at the head of solving climate problems and local action for cities." Saginaev M.E. introduced the participants to the UN program "Urban October" initiated in 2014. The main goal of this program is to involve young people in urban decision-making processes, providing young people with the opportunity to use their creativity, innovation and commitment to sustainable urban development. 
Answering the questions of interested listeners, the lecturer shared his experience, explained the specifics of international and national legislation concerning the opportunities for youth participation in sustainable urban development programs.
