Ensuring Gender Equality and Empowering All Women and Girls.
On October 28, 2024, "Ensuring gender equality and expanding the rights and opportunities of all women and girls" UN CIS No. 5 Discussion meeting and conference was held by the associate professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Forensic Sciences O. N. Tilepbergenov and members of the Eltutka Club, Women and a discussion session was held on eliminating violence against girls in public and private spheres, in particular, human trafficking and all forms of sexual and other exploitation.
Recognizing the urgent need to comprehensively apply the rights and principles related to women's equality, safety, freedom, dignity and individual rights of all people, the aforementioned rights and principles are included in international documents, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights. docent Tilepbergenov opened the discussion session by noting that it is approved in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment .The effective implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women will contribute to the elimination of violence against women, and the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women contained in this resolution should support this process.
The purpose of the conference is to define the meaning of the term "violence against women" as any act of violence based on gender identity and causing physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, as well as threats to commit such acts, means coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether in public or private life.
