Round table discussion on the topic: Modern Trends in the Formation of the Image of Women in the Conditions of Society Development

On November 4, 2024 at 13.00 on the platform ZOOM  the lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology together with the 1st year students of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management  held an online  roundtable discussion on "Modern trends in the formation of the image of women in the conditions of society development" within  the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 5 “Gender Equality”.

The aim  of the round table was  to discuss current issues of women's self-determination in Kazakhstan and Russia, to highlight the state policy towards women in Kazakhstan and Russia, to identify trends in the development of public and governmental women's movements in the two countries, to form a respectful attitude among students to the girl as a future mother, to hold a discussion among students of the two countries about the possibility of women's realization both personally and professionally.

The  lecturers and  the students of the Volgograd Institute of Management – branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration took part in the round table discussion. The moderator of the event was a senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages,  Balgabekova R.N., who presented brief information about the key objectives of the round table discussion. E.V. Stepanova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, responsible for the direction “International Activity” of the Volgograd Institute of Management, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Senior lecturer of the Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication, moderator of the event Antimonova O.N. professionally organized group communications of the joint project of Kazakh and Russian students.

 The students made the  presentations on a complex social problem of our time - the causes and consequences of the formation of the image of women in Kazakhstan, Russia and around the world, specific measures to overcome this problem. At the end of the presentation students took part in a discussion on the relevance of such contradictions as: "What does a woman choose - motherhood or career? Is it possible to combine these hypostases in the modern world?", asked questions on these topics, expressed their thoughts and actively participated in the discussion. As a result, topical problems about the role of women in modern society were discussed and summarized.

As part of the event, an exhibition of drawings: "We are against domestic violence" was organized. The purpose of this exhibition was to stop the spread of domestic violence against women and children, as well as to attract the attention of society to this problem. The participants of the exhibition through their creativity expressed their unacceptable attitude to domestic violence.
             The students – active participants of the round table were awarded with certificates and letters of thanks. We congratulate all participants, wish to be active and invite to participate in the next events!
