Within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals №17. Partnership for Sustainable Development
On November 8, 2024, the international conference "Development of the Engineering School and the Personality of Mukhamedzhan Tynyshbayev (1879-1938): Archives, History, Memory" was held in Almaty. The conference was organized by the Central State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation (CS ASTD) of the Committee of Archives, Documentation and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Objectives of the Conference:
- To highlight the contribution of Mukhamedzhan Tynyshbayev to the development of the national engineering school and socio-political thought in Kazakhstan.
- To present archival documents related to the life and work of M. Tynyshbayev, identified during the implementation of the "Archive - 2025" program.
- To discuss the role of historical sources in the study of the formation and development of Kazakhstan's statehood.

- Dean of the Faculty of History of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, D.S. Baigunakov.
- Professors of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
- Doctoral students, master's students, and undergraduate students of the Faculty of History of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
- Staff of the CS ASTD.
- Historians, university professors, employees of archival institutions, and representatives of public organizations.
Conference Program:
The conference featured presentations by professors of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University dedicated to the life and work of Mukhamedzhan Tynyshbayev and his contribution to the development of engineering science and socio-political thought in Kazakhstan. Special attention was paid to the analysis of archival documents revealing various aspects of the biography and creative heritage of M. Tynyshbayev.
A key event of the conference was the opening of a training and production auditorium created jointly by the CS ASTD and the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The new auditorium will provide students and researchers with a unique opportunity to work with original archival documents and conduct research in the history of the Kazakhstani engineering school.
Conference Outcomes:
The conference served as an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between historians, archivists, and representatives of the educational community. The event contributed to the promotion of the scientific heritage of Mukhamedzhan Tynyshbayev and drew attention to the importance of preserving historical memory.
