The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology organized an excursion for the 4-th year students of the specialty "Chemical Engineering" at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology as a part of the course "Control of air pollution" (lecturer Omarova A.S.) to the educational meteorological site and weather bureau of Al-Farabi KazNU.
Meteorological conditions play a key role in the dispersion and accumulation of pollutants in the atmosphere, which makes understanding these processes an important element in air pollution monitoring. During the excursion, the senior researcher of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, PhD Madina Tursumbayeva introduced the students to the main types of meteorological information and methods of observation at meteorological stations, emphasizing the importance of meteorological data for effective air quality control. Gultansyk Medeuova, a weather forecaster at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, demostrated how meteorological data are used in weather forecasting.
