"Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"
Lecturer of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Dinara Kairatkyzy, held a roundtable discussion on the topic: "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" with the second-year students of the Faculty of Philology within the framework of SDG-5 "Gender Equality." The main objective of the event was to discuss the issue of gender equality in the context of Kazakhstani society, to examine the perspectives of young people from other countries on gender equality, and to encourage students to formulate and justify their own opinions on this topic while developing presentations.
The students actively participated in discussing the presented information, asked questions, and shared their thoughts and impressions from the presentations. During the seminar, practical exercises were offered to help students reflect on the roles of men and women in society. The variety of examples and illustrations in the presentations contributed to better comprehension and allowed students to see the relevance of the material in real life.
The topic of gender equality generated high interest among the students. They listened attentively to the lecturer, asked questions, and shared their ideas on the issues under discussion. During the practical tasks, the participants of the roundtable discussion demonstrated skills in using IT technology and critical thinking.
In conclusion, it should be noted that the roundtable discussion on gender equality was informative, engaging, and insightful for the students. It helped expand their knowledge in the area of sustainable development and inspired them to actively incorporate principles of sustainability into their daily lives and future professional activities.
