Savash Shahin visiting Professor, PhD
We are pleased to announce that Professor Savaş Şahin from Turkey, a highly qualified expert and native speaker, is joining the Department of Turkology and the History of Eastern Countries to share his unique knowledge and experience.
Professor Şahin was born in Ankara. In 2006, he graduated from Gazi University with a degree in Modern Turkish Dialects and Literature as one of the top students. He obtained his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at the Institute of Social Sciences at Gazi University, specializing in modern Turkish dialects. His professional career includes positions as a lecturer and associate professor at Selçuk University and Amasya University. In 2016, he became the Head of the Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literature at Akdeniz University’s Faculty of Philology, where he later directed the vocational school and oversaw various educational and cultural projects.
Since 2018, Professor Şahin has continued his work at the Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literature within the Faculty of Turkish Language and Literature. He has also taught Turkish at universities in India, Afghanistan, and Kazakhstan, and held administrative roles such as Director of the Kabul Turkish Cultural Center and Department Head at Akdeniz University.
As part of his visit, the “Language and Culture of Turkey” club will be launched, offering students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Turkish culture and language. Professor Şahin will also conduct seminars for doctoral students on how to effectively write articles for publication in Scopus-indexed journals. Hosting an expert of such caliber and holding round tables, seminars, and lectures opens up new horizons for the Department of Turkology and the History of Eastern Countries.
