On November 18, 2024, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Forensic Science, O. N. Tlepbergenov, together with members of the “Eltutka” club, held a discussion session dedicated to issues related to UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 16, which aims to promote peace, justice, and effective institutions. The event addressed key aspects of child rights protection, particularly in the context of statistics showing that 7.6 million children under the age of 5 die worldwide each year. Moreover, around 20% of adult productivity is lost because children who survive difficult conditions are unable to fully realize their potential.

During the discussion, legal proposals were put forward aimed at ending child abuse, exploitation, trafficking, as well as violence and torture. These measures aim not only to protect children’s rights but also to create a safe, just, and effective society where every child can develop and reach their full potential.
