LITERARY AND MUSICAL EVENT "MY NAME IS KHOJA: A HEART STRIVING FOR FREEDOM"

As part of the Sustainable Development Goals, on November 19, 2024, the Department of Turkology and History of the East held a literary and musical event "My name is Khoja: a heart striving for freedom" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Kazakh classic writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev. Berdibek Sokpakbayev's anniversary is celebrated at the UNESCO level.

The event was organized by the senior lecturer of the department, curator-adviser Abildaev Zhenisbek Akimbekovich together with the 4th year students. The event was attended by the head of the department of Turkology and History of the Eastern Countries, PhD, associate professor Egamberdiev Myrzakhan Sharipbaevich, senior curator-adviser of the faculty Yeslyamgariyev Almas Azamatovich, visiting professor of the department Savash Shahin, the faculty of the department, as well as postgraduate students, doctoral students and students.

The event was opened by the head of the Department of Turkology and History of the Eastern Countries, PhD, Associate Professor Egamberdiev Myrzakhan Sharipbaevich, who spoke about the work of Berdibek Sokpakbaev. He noted that such works as "My Name is Khoja", "Journey to Childhood", "The Dead Do Not Return" written by the classic are among the eternal works that have replenished children's literature. Savash Shahin, a visiting professor of our department, also shared his opinion on the novel "My Name is Khoja" and spoke about its translation into Turkish. Senior curator-adviser Yeslyamgariyev Almas Azamatovich emphasized the role of such a world masterpiece as "My Name is Khoja" in the education of the younger generation.

At the literary and musical event, such famous Kazakh songs as "Sarzhailau", "Tugan el", "Bakhyt degen" were performed, and funny and cheerful scenes from the film "My name is Khodja" were presented. Students performed a poetic performance "What is happiness?" and showed a video about Bedibek Sokpakbayev. A presentation on the novel "My name is Khodja" was shown, and an interesting game about the work of B.Sokpakbayev was held. Sweets were distributed to the winners.

The fourth-year students carefully prepared for the literary and musical event and paid great attention to its celebration. The literary event ended with a screening of the film "My Name is Khodja" at UNESCO headquarters.
