Students from abroad have been trained at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education for about forty years. Teachers who are proficient in the methodology of teaching Kazakh and Russian as foreign languages provide foreign citizens with programs of various contents, depending on the level of proficiency and the goals pursued by the listeners. The activity of the department throughout its existence, ultimately, comes down to providing high-quality, versatile education, thereby realizing the fourth goal of the sustainable development program.
However, an important factor in successful education is the social adaptation of a foreign student to the completely new realities of the country of study. That is why the teachers of the Department of Language and General Education training of foreigners see the purpose of their work, in addition to teaching languages, to acquaint foreign students with all the significant dates celebrated in Kazakhstan, with significant events taking place in the country. It should be noted that young people from abroad perceive with great interest information about the modern life of our country, about the main milestones in the formation of our independent state, about facts from the modern history of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Students receive such information in classes on regional studies, history and culture of Kazakhstan, intercultural communication, as well as during thematic curatorial hours.
One of the next significant dates that foreign students receive information about is November 15, the Day of the National Currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Teachers T.Kurmanova, A.Akhmedova held a traditional educational event with students from Japan, China, the Philippines, and Korea, where they told about the history of the creation of tenge. A presentation illustrating the teachers' message was shown to foreign citizens. During the event, the teachers answered the students' questions. It is difficult to overestimate the benefits of such curatorial hours: foreign citizens learn interesting information about our country, as well as deepen their knowledge of the language they are learning.
