A MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NGO "KAZAKH MOTHERS FOR NATIONAL VALUES" WAS HELD AT THE FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE SDGS OF THE AL-FARABI KAZAKH NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
On November 21, 2024, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held a meeting with representatives of the Republican Public Association “Kazak Analary – dasturge zhol” (hereinafter - “Kazakh Mothers for National Values”). The main theme of the event was "Respect for elders and youngers". The meeting was organized by Professor of the Department of Chinese Studies Daulet F.N. The theme of the event echoes the content of Chapter 5 - gender equality, Chapter 10 - reducing inequality and Chapter 17 - Partnership for Sustainable Development of the SDGs of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Guests of the event: chairman of the branch of the NGO “Kazakh Mothers for National Values” in Almaty and Almaty region, famous popularizer of Kazakh national values, philologist, public figure, winner of the medal “Altyn Alka” L.N. Daulet, Honored Teacher of the republic, famous methodologist and public figure, who worked for many years as a senior researcher of the Republican Institute of Advanced Training, S.T. Mukanova, as well as holder of the orders "Ulagatty Ustaz" and "Tomiris Khanshayim", a well-known public and cultural figure B. B. Kereikulova and K. N. Satimbekova, chairman of the branch of the NGO “Kazakh Mothers for National Values” in the Bostandyk district of Almaty, spoke about Kazakh national traditions concerning interethnic relations, as well as on issues of mutual understanding between family members, colleagues and students. The participants of the meeting, teachers, bachelors, undergraduates, doctoral students of the Department of Chinese Studies, the Department of Turkish Studies and History of the East, the Department of the Middle East and South Asia shared their views on the traditional values and education of the Kazakh people, relevant at the moment. The meeting emphasized the importance of popularizing national values, reviving disappearing traditions and customs, which is very valuable and important in the upbringing of the younger generation. The mission of the NGO "Kazakh Mothers for National Values" echoes the wisdom of the Kazakh people: "if you want to raise your tribe, raise your son correctly; if you want to raise your people, raise your daughter correctly", "a woman shakes the cradle with one hand, shakes the world with another hand", etc. The participants of the meeting unanimously stressed the special importance of the role of a mother woman in the upbringing of a healthy nation, as well as in the revival of the centuries–old traditions of the Kazakh people. At the end of the event, the guests of the meeting were presented with letters of thanks from the leadership of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and valuable gifts from graduates of the Faculty of Oriental Studies year - 1994.
