Visiting various cultural events organized in Almaty, as well as introducing foreign students to theaters, museums, galleries and exhibition halls, is an obligatory part of the activities of teachers, curators, advisors of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners. All this is dictated by the desire to help students organically adapt to the realities of a new life in an unfamiliar country. Mentors provide an opportunity for foreign students to visually get acquainted with the cultural life of the southern capital of Kazakhstan. It should be noted that foreign citizens studying at the department perceive such events with great interest.
On November 20-22, 2024, our city became the venue for the XII International Book and Printing Exhibition "Along the Great Silk Road". The exhibition is organized by the Book Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Atakent-Expo company. This is a traditional holiday for the national book publishing and printing complex of the country, which is an important event in the cultural life of Kazakhstan.
The Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners has long-standing, strong, friendly relations with the St. Petersburg publishing house “Zlatoust”, specializing in literature for foreign students. The exposition presented by the publishing house aroused great interest among teachers and foreign students who attended the event on the opening day, November 20. During the event, the head of the department, Bakyt Aitbayeva, received modern textbooks on Russian as a foreign language from St. Petersburg residents as a gift. Students studying at the department got acquainted with the literature presented by the “Zlatoust” publishing house, as well as other exhibits of the international event, with great interest.
The visit of students of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners to the International Book Exhibition is a practical implementation of the strategy of providing quality education, as well as the embodiment of the idea of partnership for sustainable development.
