Museum Restoration and Reconstruction: A Lecture by Krym Altynbekov

As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17 "Partnerships for the Goals," staff members of the Abish Kekilbayev Mangystau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore are undergoing scientific internships and professional development at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology of the Faculty of History at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the internship, Krym Altynbekov, a member of the Union of Artists and an honored figure of Kazakhstan, delivered a lecture on "Methodology of Museum Restoration and Reconstruction."

During the lecture, Krym Altynbekov discussed the importance of museum restoration and reconstruction and the correct methods for applying these practices. He emphasized the role of restoration in preserving the historical and cultural value of museum artifacts, explaining the techniques used to maintain the authenticity of each artifact. He also shared insights into the modern technologies and methods used in restoration work, the selection of materials, the challenges encountered in restoring artifacts, and how these challenges can be addressed.

This lecture provided internship participants with a greater understanding of the complex processes involved in restoration and reconstruction, highlighted the importance of preserving artifacts, and offered the knowledge and skills needed to carry out this work to a high standard.
